NFDI4Earth Plenary 2024 - Interactions in a strong community

We thank all NFDI4Earth plenary participants for their contributions, engagement, and feedback.

With the 3rd Plenary (https://nfdi4earth.de/nfdi4earth-plenary-2024), we demonstrated a strong community engagement towards FAIRness and Openness in Earth System Sciences. In that sense, we can highlight the three impulse talks on OGC (Ingo Simonis, The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)), umwelt.info (Stefan Krämer, Umweltbundesamt - German Environment Agency), and Base4NFDI - Basic Services for the NFDI (Najla Rettberg and Xenia Ritter, Ph.D.) as well as our showcase session with NFDI4Earth incubator (https://www.nfdi4earth.de/2participate/incubator-lab) and pilot (https://www.nfdi4earth.de/2participate/pilots) demonstrations: GeoQAMap (Yu Feng), Connecting rivers and lakes FAIRly (Thomas Tomiczek, Sami Domisch, Vanessa Bremerich), graph-based exploration (Pawandeep Kaur Betz, Ph.D.), SoilPulse (Jonas Lenz, Conrad Jackisch, Jan Devati) and cases from the community, like CAMELS-DE (Alexander Dolich and Ralf Loritz), MPX_specDB (Robin Lenz), IÖR Monitor (Sujit Sikder, Tobias Krüger), the Digital Data Ecosystem in Environmental Sciences (David Schäfer).

Many thanks to our BITS (https://projects.tib.eu/bits/home) and Base4NFDI (https://base4nfdi.de/) colleagues for widening our perspective on terminologies in Earth System Sciences and discussing the needs for basic services.
