OGC Innovation Days Europe

Location: Tartu, Estonia

The OGC Innovation Days Europe will focus on themes of Climate and Disaster Resilience, One Health, and the corresponding Data Spaces. The event seeks to address stakeholders’ and policymakers’ need for digital solutions that can meet their requirements efficiently and in a user-friendly way. To this end, the event will bring internationally leading software development and data management experts together with non-technical experts – such as urban planners, policymakers, economists, and other beneficiaries of geospatial information – to exchange information and learn from each other.

HeFDI Code School: Sustainable Research Software (EN)

Location: Kassel, Germany and online

The HeFDI Code School: Sustainable Research Software is a cooperation between HeFDI (Hessian Research Data Infrastructures), Suresoft project, NFDI4Earth and NFDI4Ing. The HeFDI Code School addresses the need of especially early career researchers to learn how to create good scientific software and improve the quality of their code for better reusability and sustainability.  

Workshops are offered from 26th of April to 4th of July 2024 on two tracks: introduction into basic programming and data science skill (online) and advanced skills in research software development (hybrid). All workshops are free-of-charge and require registration.

FOSS4G Europe 2024

Location: Tartu, Estonia

The Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial Europe conference is the European branch event of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) annual conference. It is the FOSS4G European community’s highlight event that brings together developers and users of open source geoinformatics software, professionals and policymakers, entrepreneurs and investors, the academic community and students.

Practical workshops will be held on 1-2 July to introduce software, perform spatial analysis, and introduce new spatial data technologies.

Workshop "How to create CF (Climate and Forecast) compliant netCDF data"

Location: Hamburg, Germany

The Integrated Climate Data Center at the Universität Hamburg will provide an in-person workshop on July 25+26th.

Data Centers have certain demands regarding the content and format of ESS data - we will focus in this workshop on creating CF (Climate and Forecast) compliant netCDF files. We encourage the target group - ESS doctoral candidates, master students and scientists - to bring their own data, but we will also provide data sets that can be used during the workshop. Prerequisites are programming skills in Python.

Spatial Data Science across Languages (SDSL) 2024

The 39th General Assembly of the ESC

Plenary NFDI4Objects

NFDI4Objects, an NFDI closely related to aspects of NFDI4Earth has advertised its yearly plenary. This consortium is dedicated to the material heritage of around three million years of human and environmental history. There is interdisiplinary overlap from research institutions working on common projects, participation in the plenary can be of interest also to NFDI4Earth researchers.
