MedGU - 4th annual meeting of Mediterranean Geosciences Union

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Mediterranean Geosciences Union (MedGU) aims to create a unique federation that brings together and represents the Mediterranean Geoscience community specializing in the areas of Earth, planetary and space sciences. MedGU will be structured along the lines of AGU (American Geophysical Union) and EGU (European Geosciences Union). This fourth MedGU Annual Meeting 2024 will have a "hybrid" format, with both in-person and virtual participation.

Deadline for abstract submission is 30th of June.

Geo.X Workshop Central Asia Climate and Water Research

Location: Telegrafenberg, Building H, Hörsaal, 14473 Potsdam

The Central Asia Climate and Water Research Workshop brings together Geo.X partners to address climate and water-related challenges in Central Asia. The workshop fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating expertise in climate science, hydrology, remote sensing, environmental policy, and socioeconomic studies. Participants will identify key research gaps, develop joint proposals, and establish a regional climate research network to enhance resilience against issues like water scarcity and extreme weather events.

2025 Xiamen Symposium on marine environmental science (XMAS)

Location: Xiamen, China

The Xiamen Symposium on Marine Environmental Sciences (XMAS) 2025, one of Asia's largest conferences in marine science, from 14th to 17th January in Xiamen, China. Organized by the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science at Xiamen University and the Department of Earth Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China, this year's event is co-sponsored by the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO). The symposium features interdisciplinary sessions on physical, chemical, and biological oceanography, marine toxicology, and workshops on emerging topics like ocean-based carbon removal and marine governance. Special sessions on Women in Science and mentoring future scientists will also be offered. It will be an excellent opportunity to exchange research with global experts on latest resarch findings.

Der Workshop richtet sich an Forschende der DAM und des Helmholtz-Bereichs Erde & Umwelt, die politisches Kommunikationsinteresse haben. Ziel ist es, ihnen Werkzeuge zur Vermittlung von Forschungsergebnissen zu geben und sie für politische Kommunikation zu sensibilisieren. Mit praxisnahen Beispielen, Übungen und Austausch vertiefen die Teilnehmenden ihre Kompetenzen in Wissenschaftskommunikation und lernen, ihre Forschungsergebnisse allgemeinverständlich im gesellschaftlichen und politischen Kontext zu vermitteln, insbesondere für die Kommunikation mit nationalen Bundesbehörden.
