Our mission
Our mission is to define an architecture for the further development of a sustainable and FAIR NFDI4Earth infrastructure. In order to achieve this, we are collecting and analyzing information on NFDI4Earth services and scientific Earth System Sciences (ESS) workflows together with the International Networking & Embedding (M3.4) team. We are working on three key products and services:
While we have documented the NFDI4Earth architecture in close collaboration with the NFDI Commons (M3.2) and the Central Support Services (M4.3) teams, we are working towards the architecture synthesis as a set of infrastructures and services, as well as their interactions. This covers all aspects of NFDI4Earth, such as applications, storage, data integration and access. We based its design on input from multiple stakeholder groups, both the internal (e.g., NFDI4Earth Pilots, participants, and NFDI4Earth community) and external (e.g., NFDI Research Data Commons, international ESS) community. This incorporates compatibility with initiatives such as EOSC.
Based on the landscaping and
architecture developments, we identify gaps in the current service
infrastructure. We perform a continuous gap analysis of ESS user workflows,
regarding missing interfaces, needs for services and performance improvements,
convergence to common standards, demands for new services and deliver
suggestions for cross-linking with external services.
